Architectural & Interior Photography for Holiday Cabins

Exterior of holiday cabin taken at dusk by Glasgow architectural photographers Blink Imaging.

We wanted to get the warm, effects of the lights so we waited till dusk to get the right effect.

As commercial architectural and interior photographers in Glasgow, our work often takes us further afield. At the end of last year we had an interesting  job doing some commercial architectural and interior photography of some exclusive self catering holiday cabins in Dunure, Ayrshire.

An important element of the photography  was aerial shots to show the stunning location.

Starting off this Architectural & Interior Photography shoot consisted of 3 cabins which had all recently been completed and the owner Angus Craig needed some high quality photography so he could start marketing them. The award winning design has some unique features such as an outside fireplace and bath as well as retro furnishings and cosy interiors.

We waited till dusk for this shot so the fire would show up well.

The main challenge we faced in terms of photography for this was the availability of good light. It was late November and the sun only hit the front of the chalets right at the end of the day as the sun was setting. In addition to this, the weather was quite poor and there were very few days in which to do exteriors. The wind was also a factor as Angus wanted some aerial drone photography of the surrounding area.

A lot of attention had been paid to details in the cabins such as the retro wash basin and taps. When producing a set of images for a client these types of shots help convey the atmosphere of the interiors.

Fortunately, after constantly checking the forecast we were blessed with a good day to capture the exteriors and aerial photography. However, in order to capture the effect of the outside fire we suggested waiting till dusk so we could capture the effect of the firelight. We used a few portable flashes to help supplement this and create the right atmosphere for the scene.

The cosy interior of the cabins

The response to the photos has been amazing. Within a month of them being posted online Angus has had over 3000 likes on Instagram and 40 bookings. Proof indeed that professional photography pay dividends when you are marketing your service or product.

We used natural light for this shot of the bedroom.

We had to wait to get the right light for this shot as the sun only hits the front of the cabins at the end of the day during November.
