Product Photography for Glasgow Electronics Company

If you saw my Vlog last year about some product photography we did for a Glasgow electronics company, here are some of the final images.

As with all product photography, ‘simply’ taking a shot against a white background isn’t as simple as it first appears, especially when you have to photograph products which also light up.

The studio lights, which were used to photograph the products, were too bright to record the light from the bluetooth speakers, so the only solution was to take separate shots and then combine these later in post production.

The client required a range of shots showing different angles as well as the variations in the colour of the lights.

Not all the products had lights but they presented challenges of their own. One of the bluetooth speakers was black ,which meant a great deal of thought had to go into lighting it properly so all the features could be clearly seen.

One other problem with this product was the fact that the logo was squint due to a manufacturing error, so we had to correct this in post production.

Black or dark products also need special care to make all their features visible.

The earbuds presented the opposite problem, as they were white and had to be shot against a white background.

They were also very rounded, so again we had to spend time making sure there was sufficient shading to allow them to stand out and be seen clearly.

Selective shading had to be used to make this white product stand out against a white background.

As always, there is nothing simple about product photography, as each product brings it’s own challenges but that’s what’s makes it so rewarding to do.

Another of the colour variations which need to be captured.
