As commercial product photographers in Glasgow, we are used to last minute requests. One of these came up last year, when we were asked by Electric Bike producer Pure Electric, if we could take product photographs of an electric scooter which they had made for Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi.
As you can imagine it was all confidential, as the last thing the client wanted was an army of fans descending when he popped into their Glasgow store to collect it.

For security reasons it wasn’t possible to photograph the scooters in our Glasgow studio so we had to set on sup on location in the client’s basement.
Product Photography Glasgow
The other challenge we had for this particular shoot was that the scooters had to be photographed in the basement of the Glasgow store rather that at our studio, mainly due to security.
This meant that we had to transport all our lighting and background equipment and set up a product photography studio in their basement. After an initial recce, we found an area which would be large enough, so we were confident it could be carried out when we came to set up.

We had to take various angles of the scooter
Product photography with white background
Although the set up was fairly simple, involving photographing products against a white background, we had to constantly fine tune this for all the different angles which were required.
Of the 3 scooters, 2 had a fairly matt finish, whereas one was glossier which meant it took more time to avoid unwanted reflections. For the large shots showing all 3 scooters together it wasn’t possible to avoid getting some of the background in, so this was removed in post production.

We took a range of shots to show various features such as the stand.
