When the owners of the Kirkhouse Inn were looking for photographers who specialise in hospitality and leisure photography in Glasgow, they approached us because of our experience in this area. The hotel had just undergone a refurbishment and needed some of the new rooms photographed, as well as some food photography to showcase their new menus.

The new lounge at the Kirkhouse Inn.

The main area for this hospitality and leisure photography in Glasgow was the new lounge bar at the front of the hotel which had a unique boutique interior. One of the unique challenges in photographing this was the contrast in the different lighting levels, from a very light conservatory area to a dark interior. In order to balance this up and capture the atmosphere of this unique room, we hid portable studio lighting in various corners of the room. Combined with the ambient light this created a nice balanced effect.

We felt it was important to include some of the hotel interior in the background to convey a sense of location.

As well as interior photography, hospitality venues like hotels often need food photography to showcase their menus. We have a portable studio set up which enables us to photograph food on location. One advantage of this is that it allows us to use the hotel interiors as a background which makes the food shots unique to the hotel rather than just appear as generic stock shots. The other advantage is that the chef is on hand to freshly prepare the dishes so they can be photographed as soon as they are ready.

Everyone’s favourite and these were particularly delicious as we were treated to some after the shoot!
