When Holiday Inn Express were looking for commercial photographers in Glasgow, they approached us because of our extensive experience as architectural and commercial interior photographers.

This has been a particular speciality of ours for many years, having photographed interiors for a wide range of clients such as architects, house builders, interior designers and commercial and retail premises.

For this lifestyle image, Holiday Inn Express were keen to highlight the availability of Wi Fi in all the bedrooms.

Holiday Inn Express were looking for photographers to showcase the different types of room within their hotels and also some recently refurbished interiors such as the bar and restaurant areas. One particular challenge for the bedrooms was lighting, as even in the largest of bedrooms there are very few places where you can position a light without getting them in the shot.

As well as highlighting the USB charging points next to the beds, details such as this one can add a little atmosphere.

Thankfully, having photographed hotel bedrooms before, we have portable lighting which we can discreetly hide away using small stands or clamps to attach them to features in the room. We use a variety of different attachments, so we have the same degree of control that we would have with full sized studio lighting.

Holiday Inn Express were also looking for some lifestyle photography to be be used in other applications such as the website and brochures, so this degree of control allowed us so produce some lovely moody photographs which add a nice cosy feeling to the images.

One of the greatest challenges with an interior such as this is the mixture of different lighting sources. This one comprises of daylight, tungsten and LED. Carefully hidden flashes were used to balance this.
