Aliter Capital recently asked us to take some corporate portraits and headshots at their offices in Glasgow. As corporate portrait photographers, we are often asked to do this either at our studio, or as in this case on location at the client’s premises.

When taking corporate headshots there are always two things we have to take into account before we start; one is that people usually don’t like having their portrait taken, especially at work and the other is that business people tend to have limited time. For this reason, the simpler the lighting set up the better. It also creates a more natural looking shot. The most common way of doing this is to take along a portable background but Aliter wanted something a bit more individual, so we decided to use the office as a background and used a window which a view onto some gardens.

We like to make the session as relaxed and informal as possible, even though people are obviously posing for their headshot portrait photograph. We are very experienced in this so often people don’t realise that the shots have been taken.

We were also asked to get some shots of people working which could be used on the company website. This is a very good idea to do as it often doesn’t involve that much extra time if you are already on location. We quickly set up a meeting with some props in the boardroom and we took shots while the guys chatted. Fortunately, they all had immaculate fingernails and a great dress sense so we couldn’t have asked for better models!
